Paid work

D-SIP is a twelve-week internship that allows you to earn a summer wage working four days a week alongside some of the U-M’s top fundraising professionals, gaining high-level experience and building your resume.

D-SIP Paid Work
  • “The D-SIP program provided unparalleled opportunities for me to develop as an aspiring business professional. I was able to manage my entire project with Ross School of Business from start to finish, and essentially served as an external consultant: identifying key areas for improvement, conducting thorough research, compiling a comprehensive report, and presenting unique findings, all within the span of 12 weeks.”
    —Han Zhang, D-SIP ‘17

Coursework

D-SIP Coursework

A weekly three-credit philanthropy course taught by U-M faculty with presentations from leading philanthropists and U-M leaders helps you network for your future.

  • “The class’ resources, networking opportunities, peer learning, and theoretical knowledge all have direct applications to my position. My knowledge from class has allowed me to create tools and processes – such as factsheets, contact reporting, tracking spreadsheets, and sponsorship forms – that allow me to do my job more effectively. I would not be where I am today, without the skills and experience I gained through D-SIP.”
    —Katelyn Videto, D-SIP ’09

Professional development

Through workshops, retreats, and hands-on consulting projects with area non-profits you'll build your professional community, reflect on your strengths and develop your personal brand—leadership skills you’ll need to build a career and pursue the causes that matter to you.

D-SIP Professional Development
  • “I have new friends and mentors, a bigger network, honed professional skills and experiences, and a strong respect for and belief in the power of philanthropy - all because of D-SIP!”
    —Kate Hertler, D-SIP ’12
